Senior Manager, UX Design & Research – Airline Solutions

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, UX Design & Research to lead UX strategy, research, and design excellence across Airline Solutions.

You will lead a global team of UX Designers and Researchers, partnering with Product, Engineering, Services, and Business leaders to ensure airline customer and traveller insights shape product direction and innovation.

The role will also help shape how emerging technologies, including AI, are responsibly applied to improve airline product experiences, research practices, and deliver customer value.

Key Responsibilities

Define and Drive UX Strategy

• Define the UX vision and strategy for Airline Solutions from airline & traveller perspectives.
• Shape how UX contributes to product strategy, innovation, and business outcomes.
• Advocate for user-centered decisions and identify opportunities for competitive differentiation.

Lead a Global UX Organization

• Lead, coach, and develop a distributed team - UX Managers, Designers and Researchers at all levels and grades
• Foster innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Drive workforce planning, hiring and talent/career development.
• Empower reporting UX managers (direct and dotted-lined) to be independent and deliver to their responsibilities, aligned with the overall AIR UX strategies & priorities.

Elevate Customer and User Insight

• Build a strong research culture grounded in evidence-based decision making.
• Ensure customer, airline-user, and traveler insights inform product priorities and design decisions.
• Promote scalable research practices, knowledge sharing, and insight management across teams.
• Strengthen the organization's understanding of customer journeys, unmet needs, and industry trends.

Influence Product Direction

• Be an advocate for UX and partner with Product and Engineering leaders to guide strategy/vision, product discovery, project prioritization, and delivery activities.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to identify, evaluate, and shape AI-enabled product opportunities that solve real customer and user needs.
• Provide strategic design leadership for complex B2B, B2B2C, and customer-facing digital experiences.
• Ensure solutions deliver measurable value for customers & users while supporting business objectives.
• Encourage a holistic end-to-end view of customer experiences across products and services.

Build UX Excellence and Scale

• Establish UX standards, methodologies, and governance practices.
• Continuously improve UX operations, planning, quality, and measurement.
• Drive adoption of design thinking, accessibility, service design, and modern UX best practices.
• Foster strong collaboration between UX, Product, Engineering, and Services teams.

Represent UX Across the Organization

• Act as a senior ambassador for UX within Airline Solutions.
• Build credibility and influence with senior leaders and stakeholders.
• Communicate the impact of UX through measurable outcomes and success stories.
• Contribute to the broader UX community inside and outside the organization.

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience in UX Design, UX Research, Service Design, Product Design, or a related field.
• Significant experience leading multidisciplinary and geographically distributed UX teams.
• Proven success influencing product strategy and organizational decision-making through customer insights.
• Strong background in enterprise software, B2B platforms, digital products, or complex ecosystems. Experience in travel, transportation, airline, or hospitality industries is strongly appreciated.
• Experience partnering with Product Management and Engineering organizations in Agile environments.
• Experience applying AI-enabled design, research, and product discovery practices, with attention to usability, trust, transparency, and responsible adoption.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to scale teams, processes, and UX practices across multiple product areas.
